1 loaf | Bridgford Frozen Ready-Dough®, thawed |
1 cup | apple pie filling |
½ tsp | ground cinnamon |
2 tbsp | chopped nuts and 2 tbsp raisins (optional) |
1 tbsp | melted butter or margarine |
2 tbsp | granulated sugar mixed with ½ tsp cinnamon |
Lightly grease an 8.5” x 4.5” loaf pan; set aside. In a small bowl, mix together apple pie filling and ½ teaspoon cinnamon. As you mix, cut up the apples pieces to make them smaller; add nuts and raisins (if desired); set aside. Place thawed loaf of dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll dough out into a 12” x 14” rectangle. With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the rectangle into 16 equal rectangles. Take one rectangle of dough and flatten with the palm of your hand. Place 1 tablespoon of apple pie mixture on the center of the rectangle. Repeat with remaining rectangles of dough. Stack rectangles with filling into 4 stacks of 4. Place stacks sideways in loaf pan. Brush with melted butter. Top with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Let rise until double in size. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 25-30 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle with icing if desired.
Icing – 1 cup powdered sugar mixed with 1-2 tablespoons milk or water.
